A wedding is
celebrated following the completion of our Parish Marriage Program.
It is necessary to begin at least six months in advance to complete
and benefit from the preparation process. Please contact Father George
at the Parish Office to start
the process.
Marriage begins
a new life of love not only between two people but also between family
members - parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. The Catholic wedding
ceremony celebrates the understanding of marriage that it received
from Jesus (Mark 10:1-12) and that was taught by the apostles (Ephesians
5:21-22). It symbolizes the permanence and fidelity that are possible
with the grace of God, and it expresses the Church's support for both
the institution of marriage and for the couple who are embarking on
a new stage of their Christian walk together.
Marriage
Preparation:
Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage need
to contact the parish office
at least six months prior to their wedding date. Couples are required
to attend "Evenings for the Engaged" offered by the parish, or "An
Engaged Encounter Weekend" offered by the diocese. Married couples
of our pre-marriage preparation team have been trained to lead small
group discussions on topics like Conflict Management, Communication,
Sexuality, Marriage as Sacrament etc. that are relevant to couples
planning to be married in the near future. For further information,
please call Fr George.
Our Marriage
Encounter sessions are perfect for couples who want to enrich
their long-time marriage.
