Pastoral Care Ministers :
Pastoral Care is ministering
to people at special and difficult times in their life journey.
When aging or ill parishioners cannot come to church, the church
reaches out to them through the presence and care of our pastoral
care ministers. When parishioners die, Funeral Ministry provides
hospitality following funeral services, if requested by the grieving
family. If you wish to offer the care and love of your heart and
of your faith to those in need, please call Parish Office (408)
264-3600.
Community
Ministry:
People helping People is the best definition of community ministry.
We all find ourselves from time to time in difficulties we can't
control. Community Ministry tries to organize the parishioners so
that they can answer their own emergency needs. It is people, volunteers
from the community, responding to the emergency needs of our community
and beyond. Community Ministry is you and me, working together,
to help each other. Interested? Please call Community Ministry Office
(408) 266-2727.
Ministry
Of Baking Altar Bread
Help bake unleavened Altar Bread for our Eucharistic celebration.
Contact the Parish Office at (408) 264-3600 to find out more about
this ministry or if you wish to be a part of it.
Skip-a-Meal:
Since 1978, about 300 parishioners have committed themselves to
being a part of the Skip-a-meal program. Through SAM, participants
pray the Lord's prayer daily, fast or curtail food once a week.
The monies saved from this discipline is donated to feed the hungry.
A monthly newletter is mailed to the participants to inform everybody
how and where the money has been distibuted. For more information,
call Larry LaPointe at (408) 264-3600.
FISH:
FISH is an ecumenical emergency concern organization consisting
of volunteers who wish to help families in need of food. FISH takes
its name from the ancient symbol for Jesus Christ and is supported
by more than 14 Christian Churches in the southwest San Jose area.
FISH's free emergency food and clothing are available weekdays,
by calling 295-2424 before 1 p.m. and are distributed from Transfiguration
church, Monday-Friday. Transfiguration Church celebrates every 2nd
sunday of the month as FISH Stewardship Sunday. Parishioners bring
groceries or cash donations. For more information, call Nick and
Madelyn Scocca at (408) 266-2727.
